A stay at Inverlonan has always been about taking things slowly, getting back to basics, immersing oneself in nature, all while surrounded by considered, ecological luxury. This next step in our journey builds upon that core philosophy of our award-winning Bothies (BBC Scotland’s Greatest Escape) and offers an elevated Bothy Experience.
We have restored the crumbling Ballygowan Farm steading at the heart of Inverlonan to add 9 rooms to our 3 existing bothies. We have tried to retain the feel and character of the Scottish vernacular whilst complementing it, and the landscape, with the addition of materials such as standing seam corten, oak, copper, Shou Sugi Ban. Every architectural step we have taken has been guided by our commitment to the landscape and to ensuring that we remain “of the hill”.
Original stone walls have been meticulously rebuilt. We have used local craftsman, local materials, ecological techniques (Geothermal heatpumps, limecrete) and environmentally conscious materials (lime mortar, hemp insulation, wood fibre boards, lime plaster, clays, lime paints, local woods). We have tried to do everything as authentically and honestly as we can. Embedded in local. No cut corners. Cool with a smile. Come and play.
